Director of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Azienda Ospedaliera Pisana, Pisa, Italy

Over 5000 general and vascular procedures performed first-hand; these includes more than 1000 AAA repair.

The vascular surgery unit as a whole performs annually 900 procedure including:  AAA repair, carotid surgery, peripheral by passes, visceral arteries repair.

At the unit endovascular stenting of aorta-iliac aneurysms, laparoscopic, hand-assisted repair, as well as percutaneous angioplasty of carotic stenosis, are now available options of treatment.

Current Research Activities 
Multiple therapeutic options in the treatment of AAA. Open approach retroperitoneal, laparoscopic and endovascular.

Peripheral neovascularization in critical limb ischaemia (especially for diabetic patients)

Prevention of DVT and embolization in surgery (system profilaxis and caval filters)
